1. How do I submit a bid?
Find the item you are interested in bidding on.
Click “bid on this item” located under the item.
Enter your bid amount, full name, email address and telephone number.
Click “Submit.” Your bid will be registered and you will receive an email receipt of the bid.
2. Does my bid include shipping?
Unless otherwise specified, your bid does NOT include shipping costs. However, those of you who are located in the Oakland County area can make arrangements to pick up their items.
3. Can I pay by credit card?
We currently are not able to accept credit cards. When we have that capacity, we will put a notice on the Announcement Page.
4. Can I pay by check?
Yes. However, you must allow extra time for shipping in order for the check to be received and verified by the bank.
5. Who is responsible if the merchandise arrives damaged?
The MSU Oakland Spartans accepts the responsibility for any damage realized during shipping. However, the recipient must take responsibility for a timely notification of any damage as well as taking reasonable action as to the declination of delivery of obviously damaged shipments.
6. Can I return the item?
All sales are final. Items may be returned only if somehow the description or photograph of the item accidentally misrepresented the actual item purchased. Prior approval must be received before returning any purchased item.
7. Can I bid more than once?
Yes! We encourage everyone to visit the auction often to make sure that their bid is still winning.
8. Do I have to be an alumnus of Michigan State University to bid?
No. Everyone is welcomed to bid.
9. How can I donate an item for the auction?
Contact any member of the Board of the MSU Oakland Spartans. They will be able to make arrangements to obtain the item.
10. What types of items are wanted for sale on the auction?
We are interested in items that can be shipped if required (i.e. no alcohol or firearms) and are new (other than antiques and memorabilia). Items do not have to have a relationship to Michigan State University.
11. Is my donated item tax deductible?
We advise each donor to consult with their tax advisor as to the tax ramifications of their donation.
12. If I buy an item, is my payment tax-deductible?
We advise each buyer to consult with their tax advisor as to the tax ramifications of their donation.
13. Is the suggested retail price a “full price” or a “sale price?”
The donor furnished the suggested retail value on each item. It is only meant as a guide and is not considered an absolute minimum or maximum price that the item may retail for.
14. How will I be notified if I won?
The individual who submitted the winning bid will be notified either by telephone or e-mail shortly after the end of the auction.
15. Does the highest bid always win?
The Auction Committee has the right to reject any bid that it believes to not have been made in good faith. In the event that the highest bid is disqualified, the Auction Committee has the right to decide to accept the next highest bid or to place the item up for auction again.
